Dental care has been consistently ranked as one of the top unmet needs for the population experiencing homelessness, due to factors such as a lack of access to affordable dental care and oral health education. Poor oral hygiene can lead to a variety of health problems such as gum disease, infection, bone loss, heart disease, strokes and more. Poor dentition or missing teeth may also result in impaired speech, a loss of confidence and leave individuals at a significant disadvantage when seeking employment. The Partnership's Smiles Work! Dental Program helps to restore the oral health of the program participants and to repair dentition so it is no longer a barrier to seeking and securing gainful employment. Typical dental services provided at the on-site clinic include: Deep cleanings, fillings and extractions. Restorative services, such as composite and amalgam fillings. Diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injuries and malformations of the teeth and mouth. X-rays and screening for oral cancer. Education about the importance of maintaining oral health. Directions: The Campus is one mile EAST of I-95 on the SE corner of Sunrise Boulevard and NW 7th Avenue (Avenue of the Arts) in Fort Lauderdale. From I-95 -- Take Sunrise Boulevard EAST, 1 mile to NW 7th Avenue (Avenue of the Arts) and turn RIGHT - make the first LEFT into the Center's parking lot. From Fort Lauderdale -- Take Broward Boulevard to NW 7th Avenue (Avenue of the Arts), turn NORTH - continue almost to Sunrise Boulevard - turn RIGHT into parking lot.

Hello! I am reaching out to get information on how this program works and what the costs are. I am looking into this for homeless people, not myself. I would like to pay for their dental work. I have recently moved down to florida, and I have been speaking with a few homeless people and try to help them as much as possible. One thing I found as a common denominator is a lot of them majorly need better teeth hygiene, and I would love to help them with that and hopefully that can be the first step in getting them off the streets and a job to transform their life. Curious how this would work and what extent of work is done? Of course everyones would look a bit different but some information would be extremely helpful!
