The first clinic, Vine Hill Community Clinic, was established in 1991 as a critical program of the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing in order to provide primary healthcare for an underserved population. Today the Vine Hill Clinic serves all of the Nashville community, accepting most commercial insurance plans and has sliding scale fees for the uninsured. All Clinics are staffed with Board Certified advanced practice registered nurses who hold masters or doctoral degrees in their specialty. Vine Hill Clinic patients are cared for by family, pediatric, adult and acute care nurse practitioners, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners. All nurse practitioners and nurse midwives work in collaboration with physician colleagues. About UCHS Referrals are made based on clinical needs, insurance requirements, and patient preferences
